Getting ready to pack the kitchen? It’s by far the hardest room to conquer…and contains that stuff you just don’t know what to do with, along with other stuff you can’t identify.

Best way to start?

Set aside only what you will absolutely need three days prior to the move. A few plates, a set of silverware and a cup. These items can be hand washed while everything else goes in boxes.

If you can, get plate boxes (The Container Store). If that’s not in the budget, no worries. Bubble wrap makes up the difference.


Just be sure not to overfill the box– plates get heavy real quick. Top things off w light plastic items or paper goods. And lastly, don’t be afraid to use tape.

Packing up the kitchen is a great time to weed out the unnecessary. Don’t take that stuff you don’t know how to use!
